(税込)イタリア・ミラノ生まれの画家ジュゼッペ・アルチンボルド(1526-1593)のユーモアと知略に満ちた芸術を、日本で初めて本格的に紹介した展覧会カタログです。 ミラノのほかウィーンとプラハのハプスブルク家の宮廷で活躍したアルチンボルドは、果物や野菜、魚や書物といったモティーフを思いがけないかたちで組み合わせた、寓意的な肖像画の数々によって広く記憶されています。 世界各地の主要美術館が所蔵するアルチンボルドの油彩、素描計30点を中心に、およそ100点の作品により、この画家のイメージ世界の生成の秘密に迫りました。
